What is Prompt engineering?
The skill of writing and refining prompts so an AI model gives reliable, high-quality results.
Prompt engineering sounds technical, but it is mostly careful writing and testing. You give the AI a role, a goal, the context it needs, the format you want back, and examples of good output, then you adjust based on what comes back.
For images, it means learning which details a model pays attention to (lighting, lens, style words, aspect ratio). For chatbots, it means structuring a request so the answer is useful the first time: who it is for, how long, what tone, and what to avoid.
A reusable chatbot structure
“You are a social media manager for a Hyderabad bakery. Write 5 Instagram captions for our new mango cheesecake. Audience: college students. Tone: playful, max 20 words each, include one emoji, no hashtags.”
