What is Upscaling?
Using AI to enlarge an image and add believable detail, so a small picture looks sharp when printed or viewed full-screen.
Normal resizing just stretches pixels and makes images blurry. AI upscalers predict the missing detail — skin texture, fabric weave, hair strands — so the larger version looks crisp.
Upscaling can also invent details that were never there, so for restoring old family photos keep the result natural and compare it with the original.
Most image tools offer 2× or 4× upscaling, and dedicated upscalers add options like face enhancement and sharpening strength. Upscale only your final pick rather than every draft, keep the strength moderate for portraits so skin still looks real, and save the original alongside the enlarged version.
Use it for
Printing an AI portrait as a framed photo, or making a 1080p thumbnail out of a small generated image.
